Meet Amanda
Two Trips a Year does mean something to me.
When I strike up conversation with people, they tend ask me how I can travel so much and how I can afford it. My story would be that I started with 2 trips a year. I would save the little money I had from my first jobs, I would take horrible red eye flights, visit people who had just moved to cities to sleep on their couch, and I’d travel on weekends and holidays so that I didn’t have to take too many days off. I started with 2 trips a year but then as it gained importance in my life and I was traveling monthly, I would then look forward to 2 big international trips a year. I started craving even more so I sold everything, packed my bags with all my belongings I had left, and started living in 2 places a year. It’s been a long, fun, adventurous road that I only allowed glimpses of but now I’m fully committed to living a life of travel and sharing it.
My inspiration is Animal Planet. I was never very good at reading and comprehension, but facts, numbers and pictures stuck with me. The only books my mom would buy me were Guinness Book of World Records and Animal Books. I would memorize them, study them, organize them and repeat it to anyone who would listen. Useless things such as – a hippos closest cousin is a blue whale. I remember dreaming up seeing these animals in the wild, collecting post cards of the one “odd” family member who traveled. I would race to the globe to see where I could dream of going. I would also watch nature documentaries and think “if the camera men can get there, then so can I”. I not only believed it, but I started living it. One of my highlights traveling was actually meeting a Planet Earth videographer filming the jaguars in the Pantanal for an upcoming documentary!
Another thing that is important to mention is that I chose this. When I had a little, I got to see less glamourous places such as Oklahoma but as my career developed, I started taking a more luxury vacations but what I’m trying to point out is that the budget didn’t decide IF I went, it decided WHERE I went.

So as I move along my journey, I will continue to share. Please follow if this interests you.
